A squash racket can be used to help develop forearm strength to be able to lift the shuttle to the rearcourt and for drive defence shots.

As the squash racket is much heavier than a badminton racket, it provides a good form of resistance to try and play the lift. In its simplest form, this practice is performed by 1 player continuously defending using a squash racket and another co-operatively hitting smashes.

The defender should aim to get their lifts into the back tramlines. Once the wrist becomes tired, attacker and defender should switch over.

There are also heavy badminton rackets on the market that are specifically designed for resistance work.
