How does this l-r-l-r movement work in your game?

You will have to consider the flight time of shuttle and your movement from your base position into the smash.

Timing the movement will depend on the flight of the shuttle and how early you have been able to react.

Why not practice this basic exercise using different timings after the first left-right?
To move from a base position into the smash players will use a split step and pivot before using the l-r-l-r movement.

The split step will allow you to push into the ground and give you momentum to move to the rear of the court.

The pivot will turn the body into a side on position ready to unleash power from body rotation
Here is another movement exercise to add to your warm up repertoire.
