The aim of the singles high serve is to deliver the shuttle high and as deep as possible into the diagonally opposite service box to force your opponent to strike the shuttle from the back tramline area.
A good length service will make it difficult for the opponent to play winners from the serve as you should have plenty of time to react to their shot.
If you can get good height on your serve, then a shuttle that
drops vertically can be more difficult for your opponent to time as
there is less surface area of the cork available to make contact with
the racket strings.
