In competitive play people often debate over foul serving involving the serve below the waist rule.
The rule states that the whole shuttle should be below the waist at the instant of being hit by the servers racket.
For this ruling the waist is considered to be an imaginary line around the body, level with the lowest part of the server’s bottom rib.
Borderline cases are difficult to call because it is difficult to tell
exactly where the bottom rib is underneath the playing shirt.
