In May 2006, the International Badminton Federation changed the rules for scoring in badminton. This was immediately introduced for international competitions and many domestic competitions and in time is likely to be introduced to club play.

The point a rally scoring system can be summarised as follows:

  • A two minute interval between each game is allowed.
  • The side winning a game serves first in the next game.
