When you are forced to make a deep lunge, you should use a recovery movement to help get back on balance and ready for the next shot.

When you lunge deeply, your body is put in a position of instability through your feet being a long distance apart.

Movement of the non-lunging leg back towards the lunging leg creates a stronger position to in order to push back and recover.

If you do not use a recovery movement it is very difficult to prepare for your next shot.
