The punch or delayed clear has a flatter trajectory than a normal clear, but should still land in the back tramlines.
It is played by holding your overhead attacking shot position for the opponent to expect an downward shot and then use a quick wrist movement rather than arm movement to play the shuttle at pace over the opponent’s head.
When the shot is held well it can flat foot your opponent and make them struggle to get behind the shuttle.
