The net flick is a shot played from the forecourt to put your opponent under rearcourt pressure. The shuttle is struck earlier and has a flatter trajectory than a traditional high lift to force the opponent to take the shuttle late in the rearcourt.
The key to a successful net flick is to get to the shuttle early so that you can hit it as near to the height of the net tape as possible.
That way you can use a flatter trajectory for your shot putting your opponent under good pressure in the rearcourt.
Also by playing it early your opponent is unlikely to have recovered fully to their base position and will not be in position to intercept it.
You will also have the option to hold and show a net shot enticing them forwards before flicking the shuttle over their head.
