In mixed doubles the most effective attacking formation is the man in the rearcourt and woman in the forecourt.
The man is generally physically stronger than the woman and therefore will have a stronger smash, so this is the reason why it is preferable for the man to cover the rearcourt shots when possible.
The woman is effective in the forecourt area with touch play and forecourt interceptions. When possible, the woman should take the opportunity to advance to the forecourt when on the attack.
