The following clips show some examples of good service returns to gain the attack.

1. Return of serve at the body. This return can restrict the opponent’s room to play a quality shot.
2. Return to the net. The shuttle will quickly drop below the height of the net forcing a lift.
3. Return to the tramlines between the server and their partner. This is sometimes termed the divorce area in mixed doubles – when the opposition is unsure of who should cover the reply
4. Return of serve long and wide into the corners. This will take the opposition out of position and force them to take the shuttle late.
