To play a forehand singles high serve, ideally you should position your body in the midcourt area with your feet close to the central line.

Using a forehand grip, stand with your non-racket leg forwards and shuttle in front of your body. As you start the serve, your weight should transfer onto your back leg and your racket should begin moving back.

From this position you should start to transfer your weight to your front leg, moving your racket through at speed in an arc movement and releasing the shuttle to strike in front of the body with a relaxed follow through.

Feet should remain in contact with the ground through out the shot and impact should be below waist height.

The key to achieving good length and height is the ability to create racket head speed prior to impact and good transference of body weight. Wrist and forearm generate the racket head speed rather than full arm movement and body swing.
