However, as the level of opposition increases, players become much better at getting behind shuttles and playing strong attacking shots, so it is would not be advisable to continuously flick serve.

A poor quality flick serve at the wrong time will lose you the rally! At high level play the flick serve is used as a variation to a low serve and it is the serve variation that may force a weaker reply from the opposition
