To get used to blocking and following in doubles, you can practice them through routines. In this example routine, 4 players are required, with 2 players cooperatively attacking from the net and 2 players defending from the midcourt.
The defenders should keep defending with pace to the forecourt until they find an opportunity to block the shuttle.
If a good quality block is played, the defender who plays the block should then follow their shot and look for an opportunity to kill on the net.
If a kill cannot be played, the routine is maintained and the two defenders go back to their original starting positions.
