The singles serve is a prime example of when a player should take up a central position on the court following their shot.

Following the serve, you should get yourself in a ready position with legs slightly bent and about shoulder width apart, ready to push off in any direction.

You will also see players favouring a position with their racket foot slightly forward as they will find it easier to cover all four corners from this position.
