One of the key elements to great movement in badminton is a good lunge! A solid lunge provides a balanced position for you to reach out to intercept the shuttle early.  This will help you play a quality shot and recover efficiently.

Your movement is ‘braked’ when lunging and a lot of force goes through the leg, so it is important to have good lunge technique to prevent injuries.

Most lunges are performed with the racket leg leading although there are occasions in the backhand mid-court area where you can step out on your non-racket leg to save time.
