Saturday 7th April

It is my brother’s birthday today!  He is 24 today and how depressing for him?!  He is in hospital and has a plaster cast on and he can’t move!  He is on the operation schedule again today, but I am not holding much hope.  The worse thing is that he has to be nil by mouth and so he has been starving for 2 days!

We all went to see him in the ward and it really was a depressing place.  The radiator was stuck on hot and the windows didn’t open properly so the place was boiling!  Also, no doctor had been to see him and no-one was telling us what was going on! It was really frustrating.  We all gave him cards and pressies to try and cheer him up, but I wouldn’t have liked it if I was in hospital on my birthday. Still, we did our best.

Ed’s mum Margaret and his sister Steph came to visit us and they spent most of the day shopping in Milton Keynes!  Amazingly they only came back with 2 bags!  We got back to mine and chilled out til Ed came back form work and I cooked dinner.  Hopefully everyone was impressed!

Adam’s operation has been cancelled again…..

Sunday 8th April

We all went for a walk around Willen lake and then lunch at the local pub The Swan.  Perfect Sunday! Then I ate too many Easter Eggs! Whoops.  The weather has been beautiful and I was so contented, I fell asleep in the afternoon!

A doctor has finally gone to see Adam – to tell him that the op won’t go ahead today.  He is absolutely starving – this is the 3rd day he has been nil by mouth and is now on a drip as he is so dehydrated.  Mum is furious and we can’t believe he has been treated like this.  He is getting really upset as he just wants it to get it over with and then he can recover better.  Poor thing – he is devastated and thinks his football career is now over.  Word of advice – if anyone is planning to get ill or injured, don’t do it on a Bank Holiday!  Bedford hospital closed 4 of it’s 5 operating theatres cos of the Easter Weekend!

Monday 9th April

Yippee!  The operation has gone ahead!  Went to see Adam and he was really drowsy and tired but he was really happy that it has happened.  He has now got screws in his ankle to keep it all in place and he has a cast on his leg, all the way up to his thigh so he doesn’t twist his knee and mess it all up.  Left him to sleep and recover.
