Tuesday 6th February
I went for a meeting and a dinner with the head guys at
Lenovo at their offices in Basingstoke. Lenovo are one of the sponsors for the Olympics and haven’t really done
much publicity to promote this. It is
now that they have decided to push this and are looking for an ambassador for
them to advertise this fact. Through my
B&Q sponsorship, I was recommended as a potential ambassador and so this
evening I met up with Brian and Ian from the company to chat and get to know
each other.
The dinner was lovely and the guys are really great! I had a really fun time and hopefully they will choose me for the role. Lenovo are a computer company and I was trying my best to talk all technology and look really clued up, but I think in the end I just gave up and said that I was still learning all that stuff! I really expected to Brian and Ian to be in the more mature age region and be a little bit quiet, but they were far from that!
Brian didn’t like sport whatsoever, but he has the most amazing
charismatic voice and could tell stories that really captured you in. And Ian is a rugby guy who was still limping
from a rugby injury and had been to watch the 6 Nations at the weekend and he
loved his sport. So combined, these two
had me relaxed in their company and we will see each other at the Sports
Industry Awards where I am getting the feeling it will be a drunken meeting!
Woke up to snow!! Yippee!! I love it when it
snows! I am such a big kid!
There was about 10 inches in Milton Keynes – I am sure we
had the most out of England! I couldn’t
get my car out of my road so there was no choice except to enjoy the snow! Ed and I walked to Natalie Munt’s house and
on the way got completely soaked as we had to throw snow at each other all the
way! Then I rugby tackled him which seemed
like a good idea at the time, but after I got all the snow out from down my
jumper, my hair and from out of my socks, I was feeling a bit cold! Natalie made tea and brownies and that warmed
us up.
It was the first time I had seen her since she had had
her wisdom teeth out and her face was swollen up really badly, particularly on
her right side! She did look a bit funny
and I did laugh a little bit but she was still in a lot of pain so I stopped
laughing. I think people have been
calling her Desperate Dan and I did feel a bit sorry for her….!
She was in a lot of pain and I think she underestimated
the operation of removing wisdom teeth.
On the news they were talking about the snow constantly
and they were saying how Luton and Stansted airports were closed and lots of
flights were being cancelled. This was
not good news as Ed and I were going to Marrakech the next day! Our flight was due to leave at 6am on the
Friday so we were glued to the TV to see what was happening with the Luton
airport situation….
