...as a bus was turning in and heading right at us!

Monday 5th February

Unbelievably, we had a Danish match today!  Great scheduling or what?!  It was because the Danish Nationals were the weekend of 9th to 11th Feb so they thought that it would be fine to put a match on this day.  Not so good for us.  After getting back from Manchester at 10pm, I had to leave my house at 4.30am and drive to Stansted to catch the flight.  To say that I am tired is a bit of an understatement

The match was against Greve and Nathan and I had to play Donna and Michael Lamp.  I really didn’t want to lose to Donna again and luckily her Danish partner is not as good as Clarky, so we won ok!  The game finished 3-3 and the golden set was a mens singles in which we lost.  That means our team finished 3rd and so our semi-final will be against Greve (again!) in a few weeks

On the way back to Copenhagen (our club is an hour away), Nathan who was driving Ditte’s car, pulled out into the road and stopped at the junction just as a bus was turning in and heading right at us!  We were shouting at the bus driver for being a complete idiot and wondering what the hell he was doing, till we both suddenly realised at the same time that Nathan had driven on the left hand side of the road and that we were so wrong!

Neither of us had noticed as we started off and now Nathan had to drive across the grass and pavement to get out of the way of the bus and onto the right side of the road that the Danes drive on! How embarrassing!  Luckily there was no-one on the bus and that it was quiet on the roads or we could have crashed!
