Saturday 11th November
County weekend! I play for Hertfordshire and we are in Premier A division. Woke up about 11am feeling not too bad but when I arrived at the Badminton Centre, I was beginning to get the shakes and feeling slightly ill! I love the county weekends purely as you get to see so many old faces and people you haven't seen for ages! As soon as I walked into the door, I saw Simon Archer, James Andersson and Sarah Hardaker! Luckily I found a chair and tried to hide before my first match! First up it was Hertfordshire v Essex.
The thing about Hertfordshire is that we have to dream team for ladies! Singles is Rachel Howard (though she couldn't make this weekend) and then we have myself, Natalie Munt, Suzanne Rayappan and Liza Parker! Not bad there! Unfortunately we don't have the same in the men! We do have Richard Doling and Dean George now, but our match with Essex ended up 5-5. Next it was Avon and it was the same result 5-5.
The thing about the county weekend is that the night out is sometimes the highlight of the 2 days! I remember the days when we all used to go out and get very drunk and have about 2 hours sleep and then tried to play again! It is a little bit tamer now! We did go out though and went to a bar / nightclub in Milton Keynes. Even Donna made it out and Hannah but she was driving! The music was very bad indeed though. We thought they were going to play cheese but they only played it for 20 minutes and then it was back to dance music and I wasn't feeling that!
Donna and Natalie kept pestering the DJ to play ABBA and S Club 7 but he was having none of it. In retaliation for me showing a few people the pictures of her asleep on an Indian man, Donna told the DJ that I was world belly dancing champion and he announced it to everyone. I think I am going to show more people those photos....
By 1.30 am my feet were hurting and was glad to go home!
Sunday 12th November
Ooh I love the gossip on the next day of a night out!! To be honest there wasn't much - well not that anyone was telling me! - but I did manage to find out a bit! Could there be the start of a romance between a Hertfordshire girl and a Surrey boy? And one girl definitely caught the attention of a former International player and he couldn't stop going on about how much he thought she was the best thing ever! And someone didn't end up where they said they were going to end up or where they said they
stayed.... Ooh intriguing!
Back to the badminton and Hertfordshire boys Richard Doling and Dean George won their mens doubles! It meant that we could beat Yorkshire!! And we did. 6-4 was the final result and we could be very pleased with ourselves! And I still have my unbeaten record at county!
Dean, Natalie, Natalie's boyfriend Graham, Donna, Suzanne and I all went to the Toby Carvery to fill ourselves with roast dinner! I love that place!
